(1) so that+주어+may/can ~ (~하기 위하여, ~하도록)
We studied very hard so that we might not fail in the exam. (시험에 실패하지 않도록 우리는 열심히 공부했다.)
Turn on the light so that we can see it. (우리가 그것을 볼 수 있도록 불을 켜시오.)

(2) in order that+주어+may/can ~ (~하기 위하여, ~하도록)
Speak clearly in order that they may understand you. (그들이 당신 말을 이해하도록 분명하게 말하시오.)
I’ll give you the key in order that you can use my car. (당신이 내 차를 쓸 수 있도록 당신에게 열쇠를 주겠다.)
He started early in order that he could get there in time. (늦지 않게 그곳에 도착할 수 있도록 그는 일찍 출발했다.)
