수동 분사구문

수동 분사구문은 분사구문의 의미가 수동태의 뜻을 가진 분사구문이다. 형태는 분사(V+ing)와 수동태(be+pp) 합쳐진 형태이다. Being taken by surprise, he gave up the contest. 갑자기 공격을 당하여, 그는 경기를 포기하였다. =As he was taken by surprise, he gave up the contest. take의 수동태는 be taken 이며 「공격을 당하다」의 의미이다. 여기에 분사의 형태인 -ing 를 붙이면 Being taken 이 되어 「공격을 당하다」 + 「~ 때문에」의 의미가 된다. *take somebody/something by surprise~을 기습 공격하다 Being tired, he went to bed earlier.그는 피곤했기 때문에 일찍 자러 갔다. =As he was tired, he went to bed earlier. 위 두 예문은 Being, Having been + (과거분사/형용사/명사) 의 구문에서 Being 또는 Having been 은 생략 가능하므로 다음처럼 쓸 수 있다. →Taken by surprise, he gave up the contest. →Tired, he went to bed earlier. (Being) wounded in the legs, he could not walk. 다리를 부상당해서 더 이상 걸을 수 없었다. =As he was wounded in the legs, he could not walk (Having been) written in haste, the book has many mistakes. 급하게 쓰여졌기 때문에 많은 오류가 있다. =As the book was written in haste, it has many mistakes. (Being) praised by his teacher, he would study harder. 그는 선생님께 칭찬을 받았다면, 공부를 더 열심히 했을 것이다 =If he were praised by his teacher, he would study harder. (Having been) defeated many times, they ran away. 그들은 여러 번 패배하였기 때문에, 도망갔다. =After they had been defeated many times, they ran away.
