선호 묻기 Which do you prefer?

너는 어떤 것이 더 좋니?’

Which do you prefer, the purple one or the yellow one? ‘보라색과 노란색 옷 중에서 어떤 것이 더 좋니?’

1. B: ①It’s really hot here in Thailand. Let’s ②go to the night market and have some fresh fruit juice.
G: Sounds good. How do we get there?
B: We can go ③on foot or by bus. ④Which do you prefer?
G: I prefer the bus.
2. G: What is this long dress called?
M: It is an ⑤Ao dai, a type of traditional clothing from Vietnam.
G: ⑥Can I try one on?
M: Sure. ④Which do you prefer, the purple one or the yellow one?
G: The purple one, please.

상대방에게 선호하는 것을 묻는 표현으로 첫 번째 표현은 ‘걸어서 가는 것’과 ‘버스를 타는 것’ 중 어느 것을 더 선호하는지를 묻고 있다. Which do you like better?나 Which do you like more?로도 바꿔 표현할 수 있다.

두 번째 표현은 선택사항을 같이 언급하면서 표현한 것으로 <Which do you prefer, A or B?>의 형태로 ‘A와 B 중에서 어떤 것이 더 좋니?’란 뜻이다. one은 모두 앞서 언급된 ‘베트남 옷’을 가리키는 부정대명사이다.
