A Day at the Baseball Stadium
야구 경기장에서의 하루

Today the Thunders and the Cobras have a game. Jihun’s family is ①at the baseball stadium.
Jihun: Jian, this is your first time ②to come to the baseball stadium, ③isn’t it?
Jian: Yes, I’m so ④excited. I ⑤can’t wait for the game to start.
Dad: Look. The players are coming out now!
Jian: ⑥Which team is the Thunders?
Jihun: Over there, behind third base. They are wearing dark gray uniforms ⑦because they are the visiting team.
오늘 천둥과 코브라가 경기를 한다. 지훈이네 가족은 야구 경기장에 있다.
지훈: 지안아, 네가 야구 경기장에 온 건 이번이 처음이지, 그렇지 않니?
지안: 응, 나 정말 신나. 경기가 빨리 시작했으면 좋겠어.
아빠: 봐. 선수들이 지금 나오고 있어!
지안: 어느 팀이 천둥이야?
지훈: 저기, 3루 뒤에 있어. 그들은 원정 팀이기 때문에 어두운 회색 유니폼을 입고 있어.

Jian: Does the visiting team ①always wear a dark color?
Jihun: Yes, that’s the rule. Home teams have bright uniforms ②and visiting teams have dark uniforms.
Jian: Why is that?
Mom: ③There is an interesting story about that. ④In the past, visiting teams could not wash their uniforms after every game. So they ⑤started wearing dark colors ⑥to hide the dirt.
Jian: Hahaha! That was a good idea!
지안: 원정 팀이 항상 어두운 색을 입어?
지훈: 응, 그게 규칙이야. 홈 팀은 밝은 유니폼을 입고 원정 팀은 어두운 유니폼을 입어.
지안: 왜?
엄마: 그것에 대한 흥미로운 이야기가 있어. 과거에는 원정 팀이 매 경기 후에 유니폼을 세탁할 수가 없었지. 그래서 그들은 먼지를 숨기기 위해 어두운 색을 입기 시작했단다.
지안: 하하하! 좋은 생각이었네요!

 The players ①are warming up.
Jian: Who’s your favorite player?
Jihun: Number 77.
Jian: What does the number mean?
Jihun: Hmm.... Players choose a number ②they like.
Dad: You know what? In the past, the numbers ③were determined by the players’ batting order.
Jihun: ④That means there were no players with number 77!
 선수들이 준비 운동을 하고 있다.
지안: 가장 좋아하는 선수가 누구야?
지훈: 77번.
지안: 그 숫자는 무엇을 의미해?
지훈: 음... 선수들이 원하는 번호를 선택해.
아빠: 그거 아니? 과거에는 번호가 선수들의 타순에 의해 결정되었단다.
지훈: 그건 77번 선수가 없었다는 뜻이네요!

Now, Jihun’s favorite player ①is about to bat. Jihun ②looks anxious.
Jian: Your favorite player is at bat.
Jihun: Yes. He ③has hit 21 home runs already this year. ④If he hits one more today, he will be the home run leader this season.
The batter ⑤misses several balls. Now he has a full count. He   ⑥is waiting for the next pitch.
Jihun: HOME RUN! HOME RUN!
Crack!
The ball flies fast. It is going, going, going, gone!
이제, 지훈이의 가장 좋아하는 선수가 막 공을 치려고 한다. 지훈이는 불안해 보인다.
지안: 오빠가 가장 좋아하는 선수가 타석에 서네.
지훈: 응. 그는 올해 이미 21개의 홈런을 쳤어. 그가 오늘 하나를 더 치면, 그는 이번 시즌 홈런 리더가 될 거야.
타자는 여러 개의 공을 놓친다. 이제 그는 풀카운트가 되었다. 그는 다음 투구를 기다리고 있다.
지훈: 홈런! 홈런!
땅!
